Daido Moriyama collaborated with the magazine Shashin Jidai from 1981 until 1988, when publication ceased. This is an important collaboration as Moriyama had a creative breackdown immediately after the publication of "Farewell Photography" and his works on Shashin Jidai marked his return to photography.

This volume contains all the photographs and essays published, many of which are for the first time, mainly as reproductions of the pages of the magazine itself, as most of the original negatives have been lost.
