"In the course of publishing "Dear Old Days" reprint (2019), Seisodo found 8,000 photographs taken by Ryoji Akiyama in the early 1980's China, which have never been shown or published before. "Dear Old Days II" features 122 images from this newly discovered time capsule, with a different twist from the original edition.

"Dear Old Days II", ... approaches the children's life in a more extensive way than the original, focusing on both physical and spiritual environment they were in and familiar with. Period-specific items and backgrounds, adults supervising the youngsters, and scenes from school life were carefully selected to re-imagine the world lived in by children in 1980s China. Examples include iconic Chinese bicycles, tin thermos flasks, Mao jackets, bamboo baskets, rental book shops, climbing frames, school buildings, narrow brick alleys and muddy roads. These sights, once common, will easily summon up memories of those good old days, even beyond different cultures. The children in the book were actually supervised by either parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, or neighbors on the shooting sessions.
