"This book, "TRANS-BODY," is a collection of three representative series by photographer Tsutomu Otsuka, "Rhizome," "Earth's Hour," and "TRANS-BODY," all produced using a unique technique known as "swamp development."

This series, produced between 1991 and 1998, was produced using the "swamp development" method, in which photographic paper was bleached and then submerged in a swamp for a week. The natural darkroom of the swamp dyes the photographic paper in unique shades of brown and blue, sometimes leaving patterns of fallen leaves or silver floating up, resulting in prints with a unique material feel.
